As a freelancer you never know where your next job is coming from, so I often apply for things on spec to get noticed. There might be a bit of future work in it. Or there might not. A small radio studio was looking for a writer and wanted a script created for ‘Bob’s Carpets’ where you squeezed in a few points – free parking until 5pm on Saturday, etc.
As I like writing for radio (it’s like film but without the troublesome need to actually shoot things) I gave it a go.
